Cohiba Celebrates 60 Years with the Return of the Talismán

Habanos S.A. Announces the First Release of Cohiba’s 60th Anniversary Celebrations

The legendary Cuban cigar brand Cohiba is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026, and Habanos S.A. has officially begun commemorating the milestone with the return of one of its most recognizable limited-edition vitolas: the Cohiba Talismán.

During a special presentation in London, Habanos S.A. unveiled plans to introduce the Talismán into Cohiba’s permanent portfolio, marking a significant development for collectors and enthusiasts who remember its original debut.

From Limited Edition to Regular Production

The Cohiba Talismán first appeared in 2017 as part of the prestigious Edición Limitada collection. Its distinctive dimensions, elegant pigtail cap, and limited availability quickly established it as a desirable release among Cuban cigar collectors.

Following its initial introduction, Habanos S.A. brought the Talismán back in 2019, reportedly using tobacco from the same harvest as the original production.

Now, nearly a decade after its debut, the Talismán is set to become the ninth vitola in Cohiba’s Línea Clásica portfolio, joining some of the brand’s most established offerings.

The new production retains the original Talismán dimensions:

Length: 154 mm (6 1/16 inches)

Ring Gauge: 54

Vitola: Double Toro

Cap: Traditional pigtail

Presentation: 10-count varnished wooden boxes

Although the dimensions remain unchanged, Habanos S.A. has not yet clarified whether the regular-production Talismán will receive the same additional tobacco aging traditionally associated with Edición Limitada releases.

A New Presentation for a Historic Anniversary

The 2026 Talismán introduces several packaging changes intended to distinguish it from earlier editions.

The standard presentation features a varnished wooden box containing ten cigars, protected by an exterior cardboard package. Each cigar will also feature a new secondary band identifying the Talismán name.

In keeping with Habanos S.A.'s continued efforts to strengthen product authentication, the new boxes will incorporate NFC technology, providing an additional method for verifying authenticity.

A separate three-cigar presentation has also been announced exclusively for the United Kingdom. This smaller format carries a suggested retail price of £600 and reportedly features an additional commemorative band celebrating Cohiba's 60th anniversary.

The Beginning of the Year of Cohiba

The Talismán announcement represents the opening chapter of what Habanos S.A. is calling the Año Cohiba, or Year of Cohiba.

Company representatives have indicated that additional releases are planned throughout the anniversary celebrations, suggesting that the Talismán will be followed by further commemorative introductions.

For collectors, the return of the Talismán is particularly noteworthy. The transition from a limited-edition cigar to regular production creates a new chapter in the history of a vitola that has already developed an established following.

While the original 2017 and subsequent 2019 releases retain their individual significance, the new production offers an opportunity to observe how one of Cohiba's distinctive modern formats evolves as part of the permanent collection.

As Cohiba enters its seventh decade, the Talismán serves as a fitting introduction to a milestone year for one of Cuba's most internationally recognized cigar brands.
