Quai D'Orsay Concordia To Debut This Autumn In Madrid

Word has finally emerged on Cuba's Edición Limitada program for 2026, and the news comes not from Havana but from Madrid. The Quai d'Orsay Concordia will make its debut on October 24th at Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, the historic bullring in the Spanish capital. The event is being organized by Tabacalera S.L.U., the Habanos distributor for Spain, in partnership with the enthusiast group Club Pasión Habanos.

This marks the first Edición Limitada announced for 2026, and it may prove to be the only one. Cuba has, in recent years, been unpredictable with its limited edition releases. The country skipped the program entirely in 2022 and 2023, and in 2002 as well. Some years bring three releases. Others bring one or two, or none at all.

The Concordia carries a format rarely seen from Cuban factories: 5 3/4 inches by a 50 ring gauge, known internally as Preciosos. Habanos has used this size only once before, for the Montecristo L'Esprit of 2023, which arrived in a special edition 50-count humidor crafted by S.T. Dupont. Its return here, in a Quai d'Orsay dress, gives the brand a second turn in the Edición Limitada spotlight. The first came in 2019, with the Quai d'Orsay Senadores.

No pricing has been announced for the Concordia, and Habanos S.A. has not released any photography of the cigar. Nor is there any indication yet of when the release might reach markets beyond Spain. Habanos S.A., which oversees Cuban cigar production and its distribution worldwide, has remained silent on the broader Edición Limitada slate for the year.

That silence is notable given the calendar. Announcements of this kind typically arrive during the annual Habanos Festival in Cuba, but this year's edition of the Festival was canceled outright, leaving collectors with fewer clues than usual about what else might be coming.

The choice of Quai d'Orsay for this honor continues an unlikely revival story. The brand began in 1974 as a release made exclusively for the French market, with modest distribution extending into Switzerland. For decades it remained a minor, largely regional line, and one by one its original vitolas were discontinued. By the mid 2010s, Quai d'Orsay looked headed for quiet extinction.

That changed in 2017, when Habanos S.A. announced plans to reposition Quai d'Orsay as a global brand. New, larger formats arrived alongside glossy, modernized packaging, unveiled that year at the brand's world premiere in Paris. The line has since found distribution well beyond its original French and Swiss footprint, and now sits positioned to carry one of Cuba's most closely watched annual releases.
