Tenth Casa del Habano Opens Its Doors In Montreux

On March 19, 2026, Intertabak AG and Habanos S.A., working in collaboration with Montabaco S.A., opened the tenth La Casa del Habano in Switzerland. The new boutique stands in Montreux, on the shores of Lake Geneva, a town long favored by artists, musicians and writers drawn to its palm lined promenades and Belle Epoque architecture. Charlie Chaplin spent his final years there, and Queen recorded several albums at the town's Mountain Studios. It is a fitting setting for a house dedicated to the Habano.

The opening ceremony brought together representatives of Intertabak AG, Habanos S.A.'s distributor in Switzerland, and Laura Ivet Pujol Torres, Cuba's ambassador to the Swiss Confederation. The Monbaron family oversaw the launch, which carries particular significance: this is the first La Casa del Habano in Switzerland to be located within a five star Palace hotel, the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace.

Montreux now joins a network of nine other Swiss locations. In German speaking Switzerland, Casas del Habano already operate in Basel, Samnaun, St. Gallen, Zug and Zurich. In Ticino, the brand is present in Lugano and Mendrisio. In French speaking Switzerland, houses stand in Geneva and Nyon. Montreux becomes the tenth address in this collection, and the first in its city.

Each La Casa del Habano is conceived as a refuge for the serious aficionado, stocking special editions, limited series and exclusive lines alongside the standard Habanos portfolio. The Montreux location adds a private smoking lounge to the offering, along with a curated selection of accessories and premium spirits, and staff trained to advise collectors on their purchases.

The boutique sits only a short walk from the site of the Montreux Jazz Festival, placing it within one of the town's most recognized cultural landmarks. Visitors will find an interior built around the same sense of refinement that defines the surrounding hotel, an atmosphere befitting the ritual of the Habano.
